Since its foundation in 2012, Ocean Lava races have taken place in 9 countries and more than 15 incredible locations. When creating Ocean Lava, Kenneth and Anna Lis Gasque dreamed of spreading the legendary spirit of Lanzarote and bringing together people for whom triathlon is a way of life and a true passion. Unlike other series, these are non-pro races open to everyone. We bring people together in the most beautiful places in the world to enjoy sport together — for friends, for families, for like-minded souls.
Ocean Lava was created to unite and uphold the true sporting values that many have forgotten today. In 2026, our series continues to grow — stay tuned!

Kenneth Gasque

Kenneth Gasque is a legendary figure in international triathlon and the founder and driving force behind IRONMAN Lanzarote. His vision also gave Lanzarote the Volcano Triathlon, the Lanzarote International Marathon and the Lanzarote Wine Run, helping to establish the island as one of the world's great endurance-sport destinations.

A member of the IRONMAN Hall of Fame, Kenneth was honoured in 2025 with a bronze statue in Puerto del Carmen, unveiled during his lifetime at the home of the IRONMAN Lanzarote finish line.

Today, he chairs the Gasque Sports Foundation, helping children and young people access sport regardless of ability or financial circumstances, while continuing to advise partners across the Ocean Lava ecosystem.
